One of my life’s dream is to live in a village; I mean right smack dab in the middle, where I walk out my door and I come into contact with all of the village elements; the post office, fresh market, local produce, school, biking, chess games, energy brewing all around; where you feel the pulse of the community, the pulse of life. The connection in each moment may be a brief wave, a long embrace, a deep conversation or the ol’ ‘side step avoidance’ move. Village life offers human to human connection in a world that is increasingly disconnected.
Now let’s face it, we don’t always agree with or even like each other. In fact, our nation is going through extreme times of opposition, we have become a nation of tolerance. I don’t want to be a nation of tolerance, that’s just setting the bar way too low. I want to leave a world to my children where we aspire to be a nation of love. Let’s choose to agree to disagree and then find some common ground and build a relationship based from there. Love says I see you, I hear you, I know the value of your worth and I know that my destiny is interwoven with yours. We are in this together.
I get really excited about interconnectedness and the possibilities it offers. I envision a village inhabited by connected, internally powered beings radiating their love and kindness while igniting the love and kindness in others. This is where the idea for the Viva Marketplace was born.
